We are living in an increasingly price conscious world. So Allerdale Borough Council in Cumbria have taken up the challenge and produced their own ‘GoCompare’ comparison website for their local service charges (as one journalist put it).
The site has been set up by Allerdale Borough Council – Allerdale Compare – so that residents can see how much they’re paying for their public services in comparison to other boroughs across Cumbria. The site compares the fees for a range of public services in the Allerdale, Carlisle, Copeland, South Lakeland, Barrow and Eden boroughs.
Hats off to Allerdale Borough Council for following consumer trends with this new comparison website. No doubt the transparency of this sort of data will also help to bring residents into their borough and perhaps give their house prices a tiny nudge when most needed.

I would be mad if my council spent my council tax on PR which is what this service is. No better than the free newpapers they print on paper and distribute to everyone putting independent media out of business at the same time as requiring me to sort my paper.
