Voted one of the most annoying television adverts of the year, it’s difficult to forget GoCompare’s “opera singer” advert and character creation “Gio Compario”. But the Welsh born opera singer – Wynne Evans – and acclaimed opera performer in his own right before the GoCompare advert, has gone into hiding.
Evans, now known by the masses for donning a tux and a long curly moustache rather than his credible operatic performance, has been refusing interviews and publicity calls for fear of a public backlash.
[The Daily Star writes] One pal said: “He’s always proud of the work he does but he’s keeping quiet about this one. The ads are on all the time but not everyone is a big fan! He’s keeping a low profile.†A spokeswoman for Gocompare.com said Wynne “isn’t interested in doing interviews at this timeâ€.

Did a gig recently with Wynne Evans. Superb and sensitive opera singer. Give him a break, he is incredibly versatile. It takes a big man to be able to ham up his true profession. For those annoyed at the advert – go and listen to Wynne Evans singing Puccini – gorgeous

Thank god for the mute button, the only problem is when I mute this trash comercial while on the radio, often it is half an hour before it goes back on. I do hope all the other reputable advertisers can sue go compare for loss of income.
Also on the strength of these aggravating adverts I would pay another company a higher premium before I went to them, I will never EVER use go compare………………..

I hate those adverts. They are the most annoying adverts ever!!! Even more annoying than the choc a doobie advert years ago. I will never ever use go compare for inflicting that advert on us. Other people refuse to use go compare too.
I can’t believe how rude people are being about this guy!! He is doing a job he has been asked to do, none of which is his design, he is just earning a living!! I had the pleasure of meeting him this weekend in Llangollen, and he is an extremely talented, genuinely nice guy!! Look, a guy actually attacked a TV in a pub once, when this ad came on. Doesn’t that tell you how hated the friggin ad is?? I dont care how nice he is, he should have the decency to say – look, this is obviously a very annoying ad, I need to give it a rest now. You might hate him, I think he’s good, and certainly the adverts work as their profits soaring, actually when you compare insurance costs now to say 40 years ago still about the same, I think they should put them up, would keep the riff raff off the roads and leave more room for the upper classes to have a decent drive

I liked the egyptian one. But that was before go compare started to bombard us. Now, i hate all of their adverts. They are obnoxious to put it mildly and i will never use their website! They think they will get more subscribers by this lame annoyin tactic, and it only makes people avoid them. Who is the woman with the high pitched screech in the new ad?

One of the earlier posts made a good point, ‘ that the other advertisers should sue GoCompare for loss of revenue’. Because if nothing else, its taught the viewing public where the mute button is on their remotes. In fact as back to back TV adverts become louder,more abrasive, aggravating and annoying, sandwiching ever poorer programmes into shorter time slots, there’s going to come a time when the effort of switching on to be bored witless by this gormless, braindead drivel won’t even justify the cost of the electricity used. I predict towards the end of the decade more TVs will be used as PC monitors than as actual TVs

The Go Compare advert is a sight better than many ive seen! The man has a brilliant voice. The advertisements are great fun and cheer me up, especially the Egyptian One. I dont like the ridiculous record by Willow in the hit parade singing about her flaming hair? If thats what they call talent then give me the singer from Go Compare any day! At least he has talent! Leave him alone folks! If you dont like it, dont watch it! It’s as simple as that!

I really just put in on google “who is the guy who is singing in the GoCompare adverts? So, nopeeeeeeee Im definitely not employed by this company! Some people just have sick minds! I find Lady Gaga a bit sick who waddles around with a gigantic teapot on her head, and if she takes any more clothes off she might as well go nude! Having said that? I like a few of her records! This guy sucks! And yes, at 1 million an ad, why is go compare so rich, not only are the ads annoying but the hounding you get on email and the phone if you ‘go compare’ is horrendous!! It’s tantamount to harassment and a complete denial of service attack on your phone and email!! They sell on your details, that’s why they can afford it!! But why instead of annoying us! Can’t they give to charity, that is good advertising, I would use them, if and only if they gave that 1 million each time to charity!! What does everyone else think? The current crop of adverts seem to want to annoy you into buying things.
I would say there is a 50/50 devide between those who love and hate the new go comare adverts but there clearly is not! a good 85% of the nation hate this advert.. They hate it so much in fact that the fat cunt has gone into hiding fearing his safety.
I say keep the fat cunt hidden in the valleys of wales for eternity! Even that is a short sentance considering how vile this prick is! I just hope GoCompare carry on pushing consumers away with this trash and go out of business.
