Increase CTR on Search Results with favicons

favicons-in-serpsGoogle are testing (and have confirmed) a change in search results by displaying images known as favicons next to the URL. Are sites seeing an increase in click through rate – we’re waiting to find out.

Now here’s a trick to see whether you’re in the test. Using this URL, replace yourdomain

http://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=YOURDOMAIN

We’ve done a few to check:

Moneysupermarket
Fool
CompareTheMarket
TescoCompare
GoCompare
Confused

If you see a generic globe, you’re not in – sorry.
If you see your favicon – congratulations – let us know if you’ve seen an increase in traffic.

If you want to know how to get in – drop us an email via the contact page and we’ll tell you the secret – it’s not that hard but as you can see, there are some sites that don’t know.
