Why An Insurance Blog?

Working within the UK’s online insurance industry, we share common frustrations with our peers. Equally, we look on in disbelief as we watch them make fundamental errors forever causing no end of knock-on legacy issues. We frequently see the needs of customers ignored, the truth blinded by false marketing speak and – unlike any Hollywood movie – the good guys rarely win. The Insider’s View is set up to provide those who care to listen with clarity, simple guidance and the inside scoop on what’s happening in the industry.

Our blog is aimed at insurance customers, as much as it is at our peers within the insurance industry, as we attempt to level the playing field to help the good guys and best practices shine through. Although we work within the insurance industry, our views are totally unbiased and we like to keep any criticism constructive. To help us maintain this level of honesty, we will always keep our true identities anonymous.

Who Are We?

We are “Ernest” and “George”. Let’s leave it at that for now. Writing this blog under our true identities, or the brand of our employers, would no doubt prevent us from giving the world a truthful Insider’s View. Keeping things anonymous allows us to dish the dirt and give the world our thoughts on how we believe things should be done and what insurance customers need to be aware of when coming into contact with our peers, partners and competitors alike.

What qualifies us to blog?

It has become increasingly simple for the average man on the street to publish their thoughts to the world online – be it through hosted web space, forums, blogging and the like – much more so than during the prehistoric times of paper and ink. A wise man recently reminded us all that this new found ease hasn’t actually made the average man on the street any more qualified to talk to the world on any given topic. This is a line of thought we’re very concious of and careful to uphold.

So what actually qualifies us to contribute to this blog? Between us, we’ve spent many years working within the UK’s online insurance market, from a technical stance as much as from a marketing and strategic perspective. Both of us see the world through a balanced blend of strategy, technical, marketing and common sense lenses. The individual weighting of these lenses differs between the two of us, together making a strong mix and ever conflicting emphasis between the back end system and the front end user. The common sense lens invariably brings us together to a balanced view somewhere in the middle.

Obviously very knowledgable. Like it. You strike the right notes and make many of the same points we make in our organisation. Keep telling it straight!
