The Comparison Consortium – Where Have You Gone?

by Ernest on October 23, 2009

The pace seemed to be building for The Comparison Consortium. Earlier in the year, Richard Mason (the founder and former MoneySupermarket and MoneyExtra) was talking up the role (and power) of the consortium to anyone who would listen. And a few months back, they appointed Sean Gardener – himself a founder and former head of MoneyExpert – as their chief.

But where are they now? Little noise has been made, which is uncharacteristic of Mason’s usual PR machine approach. And now comparisonconsortium.com appears not to exist.

A temporary technical problem with their site? Or has the interest drifted away from the greater good of the comparison industry?

Their aim in July was to sign up 25 aggregators within 3 months. Either there aren’t that many aggregators left (!) or they failed.
